Favorable weather is helping construction crews at Point Ruston LLC development make progress toward their next milestone.
Concrete deliveries are flowing and construction is underway on the building that will house Point Ruston Neighborhood Grocer, plus more than 1,300 parking stalls.
The multi-phase project promises to bring waterfront condominium units and apartments, plus retail stores and services, a multiplex cinema and recreational amenities to the 97-acre site on the shores of Commencement Bay between Tacoma and Ruston on a site once filled by the Asarco smelter.
MC Construction Consultants and Point Ruston produced a video with unusual angles of view to illustrate the latest concrete pouring work. You can watch it at this link.
Even when things were rolling MC Construction had to work with two cities — Tacoma and Ruston — on permits, an arrangement that has had its ups and downs.
So many ups and downs would give any developer pause. But MC Construction stuck with it and now is beginning to see the fruits of all that labor.
“A mile of waterfront in an urban setting is nearly unheard of,” said Loren Cohen, manager of legal affairs for MC.
